About the Project
Gorod Inache is a research media project on modern. The citizens research the city with the help of the team of the Irkutsk Center for Independent Social Research, and when the research is ready we tell you about it.
How Gorod Inache works
About now
In Irkutsk bright past is worshiped, and the present moment isn’t considered to be so bright. We want to rehabilitate the modern day a little bit. Give it voice too.
About the city
Baikal (located in 60 kilometres from the city) is the main Irkutsk brand, but it is also a huge shadow for the city. Baikal is beautiful, Irkutsk is no less.
Understanding first, then changes go
We try to evaluate less and watch and understand more. Probably somebody will use our materials, maybe for change too.
Research
To research means to live in a city differently. To notice, to scan, to think, to pose questions, to develop hypothesis, to look for answers and sometimes even find them.
City's own logic
The cities are similar to each other and it seems that one can explain the other. But each one lives according to its own logic. We are trying to understand the logic of Irkutsk and are striving to preserve what we find.
2016-2019
In 2016 together with our friends and colleagues from Froh! we created Gorod Inache. For four months we researched, for two months we wrote texts, made website, took photos and published our works. The authors were from Russia, Germany and Estonia.
In 2018 after two year break we decided to continue the project. We redid our website, spent a year and a half on researches. In the end of November 2019 twenty new works (including the ones done by the children) will appear on the website.
